Synopsis

Rosie Graham has quietly walked away from a stable job to chase the dream she's told no one about: writing romance novels. The problem is the words won't come — and then the ceiling of her New York apartment comes down instead. With nowhere to go, she lets herself into her best friend Lina's empty flat, only to find it already occupied by Lina's cousin Lucas, the impossibly charming traveler she has been not-so-secretly admiring online for months.

Stuck sharing the same small space, Lucas makes an offer Rosie can't quite refuse: a run of experimental dates, staged to shake her writer's block loose and give her heroine's love story somewhere to go. It's supposed to be research. But Lucas is only in town for a handful of weeks, and the more convincing the dates become, the harder it is to tell the experiment from the real thing.

The second novel in Elena Armas's Love Deception series, The American Roommate Experiment is a warm, slow-burn romantic comedy about creative fear, wanting more than you'll admit, and the risk of falling for someone with a departure date.
