Synopsis
In early 20th-century upstate New York, Katherine Whaley's quiet life is upended by the arrival of Charles Varnay, an eccentric filmmaker with an 18th-century fashion sense and a remarkably intelligent dog. Varnay wants Katherine to star in his movie serial, 'The Goddess of Enlightenment,' which involves appearing nude and exploring the bizarre claim of seven metal urns containing the voice of Jesus Christ. Katherine grows increasingly uneasy as she realizes Varnay's experiments in advanced selective breeding, already applied to his dog, are now intended for human subjects, and he expects her participation.
