In 1955, teenagers Janie and Benjamin navigate a seemingly normal life in America, despite possessing the power to avert nuclear disaster and facing sinister forces. When a mysterious magician's advice leads them into danger and towards the land of the dead, their friend Jin Lo is stranded on a remote island, uncovering a deadly threat in China. Janie and Benjamin must find a way to reach her across the world, all while Benjamin risks everything to connect with his father.
