Synopsis

A teenage girl wakes on the side of a dirt road with no memory of who she is or how she got there. When a man named Wayne Boone finds her, he has photos on his phone and a school ID that name her as his daughter, Mary. Grateful and disoriented, she goes home with him, but as fragments of memory begin to surface, they refuse to line up with the life Wayne describes, and a quiet dread starts to grow.

In a parallel story, a boy named Drew is frantically searching for his girlfriend, Lola, who has vanished without a trace. He was the last person to see her, and the whole town, the sheriff included, is convinced he had something to do with it.

Told in two alternating voices racing toward each other, Megan Lally's debut is a twisty, fast-paced young adult thriller about memory, identity, and trust, built on secrets that keep shifting under the reader's feet until the final pages.
