That Librarian

Part memoir, part manifesto, That Librarian is small-town Louisiana librarian Amanda Jones's account of standing up for diverse books at a public library board meeting and becoming a target for extremists involved in coordinated book-banning campaigns. Jones was called a groomer and a pedophile and faced death threats from strangers and people she knew. Rather than back down, she sued her harassers for defamation and began organizing other librarians and readers in response. The book maps the broader book-banning movement across the United States, its funding and political backers, and argues for a defense of intellectual freedom in libraries.
