Terraformers

In a far future where Earth's descendants have colonized and engineered worlds habitable for their own species, Destry — an engineer working for the mega-corporation Verdance — stumbles upon something that shouldn't exist: Spider, a hidden city of refugees living beneath the surface. The inhabitants are not all human; they include H. diversus (the original terraformers), robots who have developed consciousness and culture, and animals engineered to survive in an oxygenated atmosphere. When Verdance discovers their existence, it declares war on them — until Destry's team uncovers a secret that could force the corporation's hand. Centuries later, a new team of unlikely allies must navigate the political minefield between corporate interests and the rights of those left behind by history.
