Tell Me What You Did
Poe Webb hosts a true crime podcast where people confess to crimes they have committed, anonymously, to her listeners. She cannot promise the police will stay away from her guests. Still, the mix of secrecy and sudden fame proves hard for them to refuse.
After each recording, Poe usually wipes the confession from her mind. Then a man comes on the show who strikes her as oddly familiar. He says he is the one who murdered her mother years ago.
Poe knows something nobody else does: the man who killed her mother is dead, and she is the one who killed him. So either the caller is lying, or someone has worked out what she has kept hidden. He also knows she has a terrible secret, and the pressure to bring the truth out begins to close in on her.
This is a psychological mystery-thriller with a dark, tense mood, built around a narrator who spends her working life drawing out other people's guilt while concealing her own. The book asks whether a murderer is always the villain. It suits readers who like a premise that turns a confessor into a suspect.
