A very good YA origin story of Beast Boy, though nothing mind-meltingly refreshing. It tries to convey a message about acceptance and self-love but fails at it since Garth has the growth-spurt and muscles he wanted all along, turning him into an attention seeker goof. In the end, there is no real growth, nor moral revelation. The story feels incomplete though that might be because it continues on another volume about Beast Boy and Raven.
