The String of Pearls is James Malcolm Rymer's 1846 penny dreadful serializing the legend of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street. Set in Victorian London, it follows the gruesome trade of a barber who murders his customers with a razor and disposes of their remains through the bakery of his accomplice Mrs. Lovett. When Thornhill arrives at the shop carrying a gift for a girl he loves, he unwittingly sets off a chain of events that will bring Todd's murderous business to its violent end.
