Synopsis
London, April 1888. Evelina Cooper, niece of Sherlock Holmes, is ready for her first London Season — except for a murderer, missing automatons, a sorcerer, and a talking mouse.
In a Victorian era ruled by a ruthless council of steam barons, mechanical power is the real monarch and sorcery is the demon enemy of the empire. Evelina has secretly mastered a coveted weapon: magic that can run machines. Concealing it is as dangerous as using it, and the murder she stumbles into forces her to choose between the handsome, clever rake who quickens her breath and the dashing trick rider who would dare anything she asked.
A Study in Silks opens Emma Jane Holloway's The Baskerville Affair, a steampunk trilogy continued in A Study in Darkness and A Study in Ashes.
