Synopsis

The sword Stormbringer is a magic blade featured in several stories by Michael Moorcock, first appearing in the 1961 novella The Dreaming City. It is a massive, black sword covered in strange runes, created by the forces of Chaos, and is said to have a will of its own. The sword's true nature is revealed in the four novellas collected in the 1965 book Stormbringer, and it is wielded by the doomed albino emperor Elric of Melniboné.
