Synopsis
Stefanie Stahl's husband starts renovation projects and never finishes them, and her house is filling up with the evidence. Her friend Griffin James, newly single, wants to sell her fixer-upper and take a job across the country, but the place is nowhere near ready to list. Their neighbour Cass Wilkes has an empty nest and a roof that finally gives way and comes down through the ceiling.
When contractor Grant Masters puts his handyman services up at a charity auction, the three of them go in together to outbid everyone else and win him. What follows is a season of demolition and repair in which the houses are the smaller job. Cass's friends have views about how she ought to be winning Grant.
Published in 2017, Starting Over on Blackberry Lane is the tenth Life in Icicle Falls novel from Sheila Roberts, a small-town romance series set in a Bavarian-themed town in the Washington Cascades. Warm, comic and gently romantic, it works as an entry point as well as a continuation.
