My only qualm with this book is the writing style. It's jerky at times, often jumping around from one thing to the next. It is told from several perspectives, though Raea's is the main voice, but the multiple perspectives is handled well. However, several of the characters, such as Linds, Mrs. Johnson, and Raea's family were very flat, though they were background characters. The rest of the book? The plot was pretty good, and I was impressed by the level of worldbuilding embedded into the book. It's a pretty quick read, and I'd recommend it for older teens.
First line: “Raea gasped and scanned the shadows around her.”
