Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber, 1922-2018) was an American comic book writer, editor, publisher and producer. He rose through Timely Comics, the company that became Marvel Comics, and from the early 1960s co-created many of its best-known characters with artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, among them Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk and Thor.
