Wow.
I am at a loss for words. Splintered Kingdom has me speechless. That was one heck of a middle book.
I love that during book 2 that we get more POVs from the group. It makes the world feel that much larger. I was a tad worried that Splintered Kingdom would fall victim to the second book syndrome. It didn't, thank goodness.
It begins slower. It drags you into a false sense of safety. And then by the last quarter of the book, you start wondering how you got there. It happens so slowly that you don't notice until it's hitting the fan. Those are my favorite kinds of books.
But after the ending cliffhanger, I need the next book immediately in my hands. Its been a while since a cliffhanger shocked me; not a twist. This one did. My mouth was hanging open the entirety of the last chapters. The way Gretchen writes is just so beautiful.
