Synopsis

In a mortal world once colonized by the gods and now ruled by their cruel, magically gifted descendants — the Descended — Diem Bellator has learned to keep her head down in her poor corner of the kingdom of Lumnos. Then her mother vanishes without warning, and long-buried secrets about Diem's own past begin to surface, along with a raw, uncontrollable magic she was never supposed to possess.

Thrown into the orbit of the Descended royalty she has every reason to hate, Diem is drawn toward the Guardians of the Everflame, a rebel movement fighting to end the Descended's reign. Caught between the glittering danger of the royal court and the cause she comes to believe in — and unable to ignore her volatile attraction to a man on the wrong side of the war — she must learn to master her power before it consumes her.

Penn Cole opens the Kindred's Curse Saga with a slow-burn romantasy of rebellion, prophecy, and hidden identity.
