#book : Something In The Water by @catsteadman :
I’ve picked up this one as one of my many many (unfinished) #beachreads and I immediately got hooked by that deliciously thrilling first chapter. It captivated me and elevated my interest but my expectations were demolished by the end , sadly .
The buildup was utterly slow , the main character was flat as hell and she lacks in depth and complexity.
The supposedly big major twist was unraveling on a very clear way and you can see it coming from miles away which left me unsurprised and disappointed.
It gives you the feel of an unfinished draft that could’ve easily been a thousand times better if it got edited more .
Some plot lines are useless and others are too plain and boring.
It wasn’t a page turning ride at all for me . I suffered while reading it and there’s no psychological thrills whatsoever.
The writing style is gripping and flows smoothly like a celestial river at times which is honestly great for a new comer but it couldn’t save it unfortunately.
It is one of the most unpleasant #reads of 2022 . It had a huge potential and I genuinely wish that the movie gets to be deeper and better, plot wise and action wise too .
Personally I would not recommend it but feel free to dig in if you want to. Who knows maybe you end up liking it.
