Synopsis

Hanamichi Sakuragi is a red-haired delinquent famous for having been rejected by fifty girls in a row. When Haruko Akagi asks him if he likes basketball, he lies and says yes to impress her — then finds himself dragged into the Shohoku High basketball team by her older brother, the team's fearsome captain. Despite having never played before, Hanamichi's raw athleticism and refusal to lose start to turn him into a genuine threat on the court.

Takehiko Inoue (born January 12, 1967, in Ōkuchi, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese manga artist best known for the basketball series Slam Dunk (1990–1996) and the historical epic Vagabond, both among the best-selling manga of all time. He has also worked as a film director and character designer, and has received the Tezuka Award, the Shogakukan Manga Award, the Kodansha Manga Award, and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.
