Synopsis

S.P. Doyle was a corporate drone at a bank, dying slowly of it, so he decided to take the whole rotten system apart from the inside. He found something in the files he was not equipped to understand, and was framed for murder before he could do anything with it.

What follows is a chase through a city of crooked conglomerates, drug-addled true believers, a talking pet turtle, and an organisation whose members have stopped being straightforwardly human. Doyle's own dependency on a designer drug called Hex is not helping his judgement, and the book never lets him off for that.

Jeremy Robert Johnson writes bizarro-adjacent horror with a real thriller engine underneath: fast, grotesque, funnier than it has any right to be, and considerably sadder at the end than the opening pages suggest.
