Sins of the Father
Investigative reporter Erin Solomon is drawn into a case that began more than forty years ago, with the brutal murder of a young girl. As she digs, the case turns out to be tied to her own father's dark past, and the man she thought she knew starts to look like a stranger.
The trail takes Erin and her fellow reporter Daniel "Diggs" Diggins to Black Falls, Maine, a town rooted in Acadian tradition. For decades, young girls have vanished there with terrifying frequency. The secrets her father buried are far larger than she could have guessed.
Once the killer turns his attention to Erin, her refusal to let the matter drop pushes her and Diggs into the rugged wilderness along the Maine and Canada border. A deranged serial killer is close behind them. FBI agent Jack Juarez works against the clock to reach them, while the two reporters fight to survive among the rivers and caves of the Acadian forest.
This is a mystery with thriller pacing, moving from a cold case and a small-town investigation to a hunt through the backcountry. It is the second book in the Erin Solomon series and won an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Fiction at the 2012 New England Book Festival. The tone is dark, with a serial killer and missing children at its center.
