Synopsis
After watching her father's slow decline, Kay and her husband Cyril make a pact to end their lives together on her eightieth birthday to avoid the indignities of old age. The story explores twelve different versions of their future, ranging from the mundane to the surreal, as that deadline approaches. Lionel Shriver offers a sharp, satirical look at aging, healthcare, and the choices we make at the end of life.
