Scythe explores serious themes of death, immortality, technology and the ethics behind it. The author is obviously a skilled writer, but the story took a while to get moving. I had a lot of trouble connecting to the main characters and almost gave up reading. Besides, the subject matter is rather depressing though interesting. I might read the sequels, but honestly, I'm in no hurry to do it. It's not the kind of book I feel like reading right now.
