Sapiens: A Graphic History, Volume 4: The Age of Revolutions closes the four-part graphic adaptation of Yuval Noah Harari's Sapiens, written with David Vandermeulen and illustrated by Daniel Casanave.
It begins about five hundred years ago, at the point where humanity admitted the scale of its own ignorance and went looking for the secrets of the universe. From there it follows the Scientific Revolution into the Industrial Revolution and on to the age of artificial intelligence, asking what all that progress has actually done to human satisfaction.
The argument is carried by a cast of allegorical figures on a psychiatrist's couch, and staged through talk shows, film posters and conspiracy procedurals. Modernity's three promises, happiness, total knowledge and immortality, are examined in turn, and the volume ends on the question of whether people will keep control of the intelligence they have built or end up answering to it.
Due for publication on 5 November 2026.
