This book’s pacing was rather odd. It went from no burn to Insta love, which I’ve never seen in a book. Nothing happens between 10% to 50%, then it wraps up quickly. Someone’s review compared Jaz to a rottweiler they wanted to push off a mountain, but rottweilers are a lot less terrifying. I think readers were supposed to find her snark/sarcasm refreshing, but I found her rude and obnoxious. She turns psycho in the end, and there were a whole lot of assumptions made in the last 10% to create a third act conflict.
Sully was adorable and wonderful, and I loved reading about his Joan. The town sounded charming. Who doesn’t want to live in a town where the mayor is a dog or cat?
Overall, it could’ve been 250 pages shorter. There was no reason for her relationship with Peter to have gone on as long as it did. We all knew she was stringing him along.
