I already adored this series from Tame the Heart, and being back at Runaway Ranch was such a joy!
Davis and Koty in the prologue alone was enough to keep my attention. Davis and Koty are sneaking around the ranch, slowly falling in love, but when it comes time for Dakota to leave and pursue her dreams, Davis lets her. Six years later, Dakota is back at Runaway Ranch pregnant and with plenty of secrets, and Davis doesn't want her any less than he did six years prior.
If there is one thing that is going to get me as a reader its a man down bad for his girl. That's Davis to a tee. He uprooted his life and his priorities as soon as Dakota was back and needing help. A Who Did This To You Moment? Give me his name? I put my book down and fanned myself. AND, him taking on her baby like it was his? Swoon! Dakota, you strong strong woman. After everything she had been through with her ex, watching her come into herself was a JOY to see. I loved the way she evolved from being so so scared and the brink of running to settling down and growing roots.
I think the family aspect of this series is probably my favorite thing about it. I loved seeing the continuation of the Montgomery Boys' actions in the first book carry over into this book as well. Fallon and Dakota's relationship made me SO mad initially, but even then by the end of this story I was screaming for them.
Oh Miss Ava, I can't wait to see what you write for the rest of this series.
