Emma Southon is a British historian of ancient Rome, born in Brighton. She holds a PhD in Ancient History from the University of Birmingham (2013); her doctoral research was published as Marriage, Sex and Death: The Family and the Fall of the Roman West. After several years teaching ancient and medieval history and academic writing, she left academia to write and podcast full time.
