This was an adventure to read. Think Pirates of the Caribbean , but with more sass , daredevilry , witty banter and an absolute amazing cast of characters. I expected the story to go a certain way , but there was no telling where I would end up.
The seeming meaningless details sprinkled around the book ( chairs , cards, etc ) all tie up so beautifully at the end. The beauty of this book also lies in the fact that the main characters are everyday folks ( a scrawny guy , a big man and a middle aged mother of two), yet they are larger than life , as unforgettable as they can be.
The situations described in this book are absurd at best and absolutely impossible at worst , yet , this being book 2 , you are already at the top of the roller coster and have to ride it out. It has all the ingredients for a perfect book - love , loyalty , great dialogue , gut wrenching situations and extremely tough decisions.
And cats , though hardly given more than a few pages at best in the entire tome, you will end up loving the cats. And this is from someone who doesn’t even like cats.
