I'm soooo glad to be able to find a new series to be excited about ^_^
This whole "school year" gave me so much hunger games vibes, which I loved!
And the whole book was a fun way to have greek mythology in a futuristic and sci-fi setting.
Loved how it showed that the inner society of golds is a smaller version of the whole color system (they way they favored one red clan over the others) and they don't even treat their own people fairly.
I didn't like titus's character at first, but when it reveals that he was also a red, I was like "ok, i get why he hates these people so much" it doesn't justify the rape, but I just get where his anger and rage and hate came from. At the end i felt sorry for him.
ALSO, I loooooove darrow/cassius relationship, the complexity of it, its homoeroticism. Man, darrow is just soooo gay! I like him with Mustang, but he is just so gay (bi icon)

Well, this is strange. On my third read-through, I am only now noticing I've never actually reviewed this book.

Honestly, not a lot to be said. If you haven't read it yet, what the bloodydamn are you waiting for? One of the best science-fiction series to come along in years. Period. Full stop.

The first half of the book was very predictable. I could tell everything that was going to happen. But despite its plot being extremely formulaic and not very inventive, the world had enough freshness, and the characters were interesting enough to keep me hooked. I ended up loving its thrilling scenes, which reminded me of The Hunger Games. The whole Greek and Roman inspiration was an absolute plus, giving a touch of the ancient to a futuristic dystopian world.
I think as soon as I've got some time, I'll probably read the next installment.
