Reaper's Novice

Ana Maria Tei's life is already unraveling — her parents are divorcing — when her family is killed in a car accident on the way to pick her up from school. Grim, the reaper who collects their souls, offers her a trade: become his novice and train as a Soul Collector, harvesting the souls of the dying, and he will release her family's souls from his ledger. Caught between an ordinary teenage life and her new, unwanted duty, Ana has to learn the rules of a world she never chose to enter while grieving the family she lost to get there.
