“Tomorrow is another day, it always is, and maybe I’ll wake to the person I’ve always been, with the knowledge I’ve accrued over a short life on Earth. Maybe I won’t though, maybe these eyes will see something different in the ceiling they wake to.”
Paddy is in his final year of school, doing his best to get the right marks. He’s had some hard times in his past, more than any other kids his age and is learning how to deal with them. He has such a close and beautiful family, some great friends and maybe even a little love interest but he also has bullies, a battle his family is fighting and a journal he’s found from his deceased father.
This journal sets of a chain of events that will leave you feeling like these characters are your real life friends. It takes such a different turn than you think and the ending is really what makes this book so amazing.
Written by a local Melbourne author, it’s written in such a way that you feel like you’re walking the streets of Melbourne right alongside Paddy. I was lucky enough to have a chat with Tommy about this book and told him that the one thing I love most about his writing is that it’s raw, honest and realistic. It’s not sugar coated into your typical predictable storyline, it’s made to feel so real that you feel the characters feelings with them.
I also will highlight that this book is about an 18yo male suffering with mental health issues. One topic that I find really important to speak about these days.
