Synopsis

Private is the first novel in James Patterson and Maxine Paetro's bestselling Private series, introducing Jack Morgan, a former Marine combat pilot who runs the most elite investigation agency on earth. Backed by ex-intelligence operatives and advanced forensic tech, Private takes the cases the police can't crack.

In this launch title, Jack juggles a corrupt NFL betting scandal and a string of schoolgirl murders before the killing turns personal: his best friend's wife, and Jack's own former lover, is murdered. The investigation pulls him between duty, temptation, and the pull of vengeance.

Fast, propulsive, and built on Patterson's signature short chapters, Private established the template for a series that would later travel to London, Sydney, Moscow and beyond.
