A brutal family murder leaves a community scarred, and the conviction of the killer, Karl Dahl, offers little solace. When Judge Carey Moore's ruling on Dahl's prior record sparks public outrage and an attack on her, two Minneapolis detectives, Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska, are assigned to her protection. The case spirals out of control when Dahl escapes and the judge is kidnapped, forcing the detectives to navigate a maze of suspects to find her before it's too late.
