It is designed for high-school and first-year university students approaching the text closely for the first time.

The guide situates Zweig's final work within his wider writing and within its historical moment — Austria under Nazi occupation — before drawing out the novella's central preoccupations: the game of chess, mental collapse and emptiness, and the political violence that shadows the story. Alongside thematic analysis, it offers close readings that illuminate Zweig's craft as a writer of the short form.

A focused critical study rather than the novella itself, this is a useful entry point for readers and students seeking to understand The Royal Game and the anxieties of its era.",2001,"fr","https://api.seekquel.app/storage/covers/editions/01/01kpgaw4va84nsvdav4bfedsyd.jpg","https://api.seekquel.app/storage/covers/works-3d/01/01kkc7c04kbatysqeqhts4ym17.png?v=cce8b0e1ed","4.50",2,117,133,0,"pending",false,true,[17,17,17,17,17,17,17,22,17,22],1,[24,30
"01kkc7c06hdf5syjry16r6jgwe","jean-louis-ferrignaud-2yui","Jean-Louis Ferrignaud","author","Jean-Louis Ferrignaud is a writer and educator who specializes in literary analysis.
