Synopsis
Her crippled legs cured, Pollyanna takes her glad heart to cheer new friends in Boston before traveling to Europe with Aunt Polly and Dr. Chilton. Sent to comfort Mrs. Carew, an old friend of the doctor who cured her, Pollyanna learns that a poor orphan boy named Jamie may be the woman's long-lost nephew, Sir James, and works to bring them together.
The book's second half is set eight years later. Now twenty, Pollyanna and her aunt fall on hard times after Dr. Chilton's death and take in summer boarders — the very friends Pollyanna made years before in Boston. Friendship blossoms into love for several couples, testing whether Pollyanna's "glad game" still holds up against adult disappointment. The first of many sequels to Pollyanna (1913), and the only one written by Eleanor H. Porter herself.
