Synopsis

In the 1950s, Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuscinski began a decades-long journey as a foreign correspondent, traveling far beyond his initial expectations to India, China, Ethiopia, and many other countries. Carrying Herodotus' Histories, he reflects on his experiences and how the ancient Greek historiographer's words illuminated his understanding of diverse cultures and an increasingly interconnected world. This chronicle offers an eloquent and insightful look at one man's global travels and his awakening to the complexities of new environments.
