Joan Didion's writing scratched an itch in my brain! It's minimalist, beautiful, no extra flourishes, she definitely established herself among my favorite writers!
As for the story, Maria got under my skin, her ''norhing'', her spiraling, being so lost in the noise and in the midst of people. I loved her.
