Ava enters the Miss Americana pageant on a dare and a few too many shots of tequila, meaning only to draw attention to her best friends' new businesses. She wins. The crown comes with a morality clause, strict pageant rules, and a three-month press tour across all fifty states to spotlight women-owned businesses.
It also comes with Jaime, her new driver and bodyguard. He normally runs security for the rock band Atlas Oaks, and a pageant queen with a habit of testing rules is a change of pace he did not ask for. He is thirty-five and set in his composure; she is twenty-six, given to pink and bows, and determined to find what cracks it.
Fifty states of forced proximity does the rest. Ava flirts to get a reaction, Jaime tries to hold the professional line, and the banter keeps sliding somewhere neither of them planned for. He is the one who falls first, and fights it the whole way.
Passenger Princess opens Morgan Elizabeth's Evergreen Park series, a grumpy sunshine bodyguard romance with an open-door heat level and a rom-com's sense of humor about its own tropes.
