Synopsis

"Paris Is a Bitch" is a short story by Barry Eisler featuring assassin-for-hire John Rain and Mossad operative Delilah, set between the novels The Killer Ascendant and The Detachment. Rain and Delilah meet for a romantic dinner at a restaurant on the Île Saint-Louis to discuss the future of their relationship, only for a crew of hard-looking men to turn up outside — a sign that Delilah's own work has followed her home, and that the line between business and pleasure is about to blur.

At roughly 8,500 words, it's one of several short pieces Eisler wrote alongside the John Rain novels, playing on the tension between Rain's attempts to retire and the world of contract killing and espionage that keeps pulling him back in. This edition also includes the nonfiction essay "Personal Safety Tips from Assassin John Rain."
