Synopsis

A graphic novel adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's 1993 novel, adapted by Damian Duffy and illustrated by John Jennings, with an introduction by Nalo Hopkinson. It follows the same story as the source novel: in a near-future California collapsing under climate change and social breakdown, teenager Lauren Olamina develops hyperempathy-driven visions and the belief system she calls Earthseed after her community is destroyed. Published by Abrams ComicArts in January 2020, it won the 2021 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story or Comic and the 2021 Ignyte Award for Best Comics Team.
