I really loved this one! It is haunting, intimate, strange, and deeply emotional all at once. The horror is never just there to scare you, it becomes a way to explore love, loss, and the feeling of slowly losing someone you care about.
I also had the chance to discuss the book with Julia Armfield herself in a bookclub setting alongside other readers, and hearing her talk about the themes of grief, transformation, and intimacy made me appreciate the novel even more.
