Synopsis

In the 1860s Russian countryside, young Arkady Kirsanov returns home from university with his friend Bazarov — a brilliant medical student whose uncompromising nihilism and disdain for tradition set him at odds with everyone around him. As the two men navigate their differing views on art, love, and the meaning of life, Turgenev's classic novel becomes one of the great meditations on the generational divide between fathers and sons.
