Loosened by cocktails and a wound he can't stop pressing, Ted admits that his wife is cheating on him — and that, some nights, he thinks he could kill her for it. To his surprise, Lily doesn't flinch. She calmly agrees that some people simply deserve to die, and offers to help him do it.

What starts as an abstract game between two strangers becomes a meticulous plan, and then something far more dangerous. Because Lily is not a bored socialite indulging a fantasy. She has killed before, she has her own reasons for everything she does, and the tidy scheme she and Ted are building has more moving parts — and more hidden players — than either of them will admit.

A modern homage to Patricia Highsmith, Peter Swanson's The Kind Worth Killing is a coiled psychological thriller told through shifting, unreliable points of view. Everyone knows the story: her boyfriend, Sal Singh, killed her and then took his own life. The case is closed. But Pippa Fitz-Amobi has never quite believed it. When she chooses the murder as the subject of her senior capstone project, she tells herself she is only reopening old questions for a school assignment.

The deeper Pip digs, the less the official version holds together. With the help of Ravi Singh, Sal's younger brother, who has spent years living under the weight of his brother's supposed guilt, she starts tracing the last hours of Andie's life through interviews, old messages, and secrets the town would rather keep buried. Someone notices. As anonymous threats begin to arrive, it becomes clear that the truth is still dangerous, and that the real killer may be much closer than anyone imagined.

Told through Pip's project log, transcripts, and maps alongside the narrative, Holly Jackson's debut is a tightly plotted whodunit that helped define a wave of modern young-adult crime fiction. It is a story about the cost of certainty, the pull of an unsolved case, and how far an ordinary teenager will go to be sure she has found the truth.","https://api.seekquel.app/storage/covers/editions/01/01kjz6w5vgmqycxdp0ef1n13tz.jpg","L29GR9xG0etRnis:aKR*2@Sf~Cw{",24,416,[729
"01kjq708qaq6gwrvex7vbawj8b","holly-jackson-sfps","Holly Jackson",[734,735,736,737,738,742
16,"Young Adult","young-adult
17,"Children's Books","childrens",[747
"01kjq708tq2w4nycb8n6dgczx3","a-good-girls-guide-to-murder-m9hd
"young_adult",[149,95,94],[
"01kjq77dx08ykthbbb7jc7p80m","the-silent-patient-cfa9","The Silent Patient","Alicia Berenson's life looks perfect. There are signs of a struggle in the living room, and as the hours pass with no word, the police and a ravenous national media begin to circle. Nick, evasive and strangely composed under the cameras, quickly becomes the prime suspect in his wife's disappearance.

Gillian Flynn tells the story in two alternating voices. Nick narrates the investigation from the present as suspicion tightens around him, while Amy's diary traces the couple's courtship and the slow souring of their marriage. The two accounts refuse to line up, and the widening gap between them keeps the reader guessing about who is lying, who is telling the truth, and what really happened on the anniversary.

Beneath the missing-person case, Gone Girl is a caustic anatomy of a modern marriage and the performances it demands. Flynn dissects the roles spouses play for each other and for the outside world, the machinery of a media spectacle, and the resentments that accumulate when two clever, image-conscious people stop being honest with each other. Sharp, cynical, and ruthlessly plotted around a pair of unreliable narrators, it became one of the defining psychological thrillers of its era.","https://api.seekquel.app/storage/covers/editions/01/01ktkx3dk6k3s6syphedc5mc2x.jpg?v=2f60cfe167","L35;,O~p%#-:MxIUM{Rj029GMxIV",2012,"4.02",486,[860
"01kjq7te064746m1ayvtbsbyh4","gillian-flynn-liux","Gillian Flynn",[865,866,867,868,869,870
[
[94,95],[152,185],"On their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne's wife, Amy, vanishes, leaving behind a trail of clues that suggest a struggle. It matches an old case she thought was long closed, and it is pointing straight at her.

As the threat closes in, Pip is forced to confront how far the justice she believes in has actually reached, and how much of herself she has lost chasing the truth for other people. This final book pushes her to a breaking point and asks what a good girl does when the system fails and the danger is personal.

The devastating conclusion to Holly Jackson's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder trilogy trades tidy whodunit for something rawer and more morally fraught. It is a darker, more intense read than the earlier books, closing Pip's arc with choices that leave no one, including the reader, entirely comfortable.","https://api.seekquel.app/storage/covers/works/01/01kjr6z62s19x7p1v3p5m1wzen.jpg","L48qNkae00-=-;ofIUax00of~WM_","4.50",14,464,[887,888
"01kkcrxqwsvyss408w4mxewyng","maria-carcamo-ramos-rhoe","María Cárcamo Ramos",[893,894,895,896,897
[899
"3.00
[94,95],[],[905
"01kxpvrgc88zssbjv2v06j1gme","review-of-one-more-kill-by-nadene","Review of "One More Kill" by nadene
692,"Nadene","nadene","https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocJagtEG0_WBr9w_-tRnbZi93QoXf9OelJQx_77YX1doLsOHefbv=s96-c",1825,1837,"I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

In One More Kill, book 9 of the Brandon Fisher FBI series, Arnold delivered a gritty police procedural designed to keep you on the edge of your seat..

The start of One More Kill gave me chills. Despite the grisly nature of the scene, I quickly slipped into the story. On arriving at the scene, Jack, the leader of Brandon’s team, discovered that this was the work of the Leopard. The Leopard is the serial killer he had been hunting for the past twenty-five years. Known as the leopard for the manner in which he hunts his victims, he plans to continue his killing spree. This is Jack’s last chance to capture the killer who eluded him for so long.

What made this case so unique was the Leopard’s uncanny ability to charm his victims and winning their trust before striking. Also, the constant changing of his appearance made it easy for him to be always one step ahead of law enforcement. The scary thing about this killer is the fact he hunts and kills for the pleasure it brings him.

Although this is the Brandon Fisher series, the story focused on Jack. We see how he struggled with his failure to capture the Leopard. He faces his biggest challenge when he found himself in the Leopard’s crosshairs. Added to this, he faced the prospect of his career ending if he failed to put an end to the reign of terror. Failure was definitely not an option.

One More Kill took me on a suspenseful cat-and-mouse chase. The story moved quickly. However, there were moments when the pace slowed, to accommodate the research needed to dig into the Leopard’s past and determine his next move.

Overall, One More Kill proved to be a gripping, nail biting and gritty read. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I had a good time reconnecting with the characters and look forward to their next chilling investigation. A must read for fans of gritty police procedurals.

This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading","none","rv-01kxpvrgc88zssbjv2v06j1gme",[],"2026-07-17T01:41:21.000000Z"]
