I was looking for a crime novel that was light and funny, and I thought this one would fit the bill. For the first half, it seemed fine, though I was a bit bored. Then everything escalated quickly, and though I wasn't bored anymore, I now had my heart in my throat. I was so freaking scared! I devoured those last pages while sneaking glances down the page to make sure something awful wasn't coming.

In the end, it wasn't exactly what I was in the mood for, but it was certainly an exhilarating journey. I will add the next installments for a later time because I definitely want more Joe and Stephanie.

More like 3,5/5; a fast paced story about a woman in Trenton, New Jersey that -out of financial desperation- decides to pick a job at a local bail bonding company and gets entangled in a case with a falsely accused for a murder cop (that happens to be a guy with whom she had a very peculiar relationship since she was a kid), a murderous boxer and other oddities. The book has its moments and it's a fun read with a dose of wit, but at the same time it shows its age and it seems a little naive at times.
