Synopsis

Fifteen-year-old Jem Marsh has kept a secret since childhood: when she looks into someone's eyes, a number appears in her mind, a date, and she's learned it marks the day that person will die. Living with her foster mother Karen, Jem avoids getting close to anyone, until she meets Terry, known as Spider. On a day trip into London, waiting in line for the London Eye, Jem is horrified to see the same date flash in the eyes of everyone around her: the tourists are about to be caught in a terrorist attack. Jem and Spider flee across the city, and Jem is forced to confront what her strange ability means and what it costs her to use it. The first book in Rachel Ward's Numbers trilogy.
