I'm sure many people will love this book, but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. I loved *The Dead Romantics* and had high expectations for this new book, but sadly, they weren't met.
The idea of reading about someone who manages to enter the fictional city of their favorite series seemed like a fascinating plot to me—something I would personally love to experience. I started reading with a lot of enthusiasm, but I couldn't connect with the story. I didn’t grow attached to either the real or the fictional characters, and the plot felt slow, simple, and underdeveloped.
There was no real risk in what Elsy did to the fictional town; her actions didn’t seem to have any significant or dangerous consequences, which would have made things much more interesting. I also didn’t feel the chemistry between the main couple.
While the ending did regain some interest, it frustrated me because, even though everything gets 'resolved,' Anders' character takes a step back instead of moving forward and confronting his past.
Honestly, I don't know if I would have finished the book if it hadn't been my book club's pick of the month.
