Synopsis

Gwen Jackson taught herself the violin. She has spent years scraping by as a working player in New York. When she wins first chair at the Manhattan Pops Orchestra, the seat goes to her instead of Xander Thorne, the cellist who grew up inside classical music's biggest families.

Xander has wanted that chair for years. He does not even recognize Gwen from a year spent playing beside her in the same orchestra, and he criticizes her performance at a friend's wedding before he learns who she is. The rivalry starts there and does not cool.

Paired to write new pieces for the orchestra, Gwen and Xander are forced into the same room for months. The competition that opened the book turns into something neither of them planned. He falls fast and admits it outright. She has more to lose: a career built without connections, and a bank account that cannot absorb a public misstep.

Not Another Love Song is a contemporary romance. It starts as two rivals fighting for the same chair and settles into an enemies-to-lovers pairing, explicit in its later chapters. It stays close to the daily grind of a working musician: auditions, rent, orchestra politics, rather than the concert hall as scenery.
