Synopsis

None Left to Tell is Noelle W. Ihli's 2025 historical suspense novel about the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the 1857 killing of a westbound wagon train by a Mormon militia in southern Utah. Ihli, a descendant of one of the men involved in the massacre and its cover-up, reconstructs the weeks around the attack from the inside.

The story is carried by three women in the settlement. Lucy has watched anti-Mormon mobs drive her family from their home in Illinois and has run out of patience for turning the other cheek. Katrina is a young mother of four who will do whatever it takes to keep the violence away from her children. Sally has just been given as a fourth wife to a man she barely knows, and watches him fall in with the men planning revenge.

The book sits between true crime and historical fiction. Ihli, best known for Ask for Andrea, keeps the focus on ordinary people talking themselves step by step into an atrocity, and on what it costs the women who see it coming.
