Synopsis

Nona is, in most ways, an ordinary person: she has a family, a job at the local school, and a great fondness for dogs. But six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back.

Her city is falling apart around her. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart, and the forces of Blood of Eden have surrounded the last loyalist stronghold, waiting for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Both sides want Nona to be the weapon that decides the war - but Nona just wants to keep the life she has, even as fragments of a past she doesn't remember start pushing their way back in.

The third novel in the series steps back from its predecessors' body-swap intrigue for something quieter and more intimate, before setting up the trilogy's final turn.
