Terrified to only see Bea was waiting for her at the next station, Sive asking Aaron, her husband who works as a barrister to do anything to find Faye even if it will risk his career. Few incidents came afterwards, and to increase her suspicions; Aaron’s bunch of friends who she met at a reunion three days earlier might be hiding something too behind her back.\n\nTold alternatingly in between present and few days earlier narratives, this was quite predictable yet too exhilaratingly plotted to me— so crisp and fastpaced with stirring end paragraph at most chapters hooking me to read it further. I did not fancy much on the back and forth storytelling at first as the flashback narrative killing my thrilling mood after a hectic engrossing chapter of missing Faye but as the progress intertwined later, it gets better with punchy execution and even though most hints given were easy to unfold, it did not disappoint me at all. \n\nLove Sive character the most; her anxiety and emotional rants get me drowned affectingly with her, and Jude— she was crafty because of her job but I like how she was fast in connecting the twists, understanding the mishap and helped Sive out. Intriguing characterization for Aaron’s bunch of friends— all were so suspicious with hidden lies and motive including Aaron too; friendship can be messy sometimes and surely, everyone did come with a baggage after all.\n\n“They seemed to her a mismatched bunch, people who wouldn’t be friends if they met today. And for the oddest moment, she envied them— their ability to tear strips off one another but still stay friends.”\n\nThe ending did surprise me, still. A riveting plot arc that was plotted on every parent’s nightmare (also based on the author’s past experience), of motherhood, one’s expectation, on trust, love and friendship.
