Because of the cover I definitely thought this was a paranormal romance, I was expecting Fox to be a werewolf or a vampire.
The beginning was interesting, I enjoyed Fox and Cady's phone conversations and him running from his cave to go see her after the break in. The second half felt a bit more tedious with all the back and forth and the lies. So it had its good moments, but they were some parts that were a bit hard to read and made me a little uncomfortable, most of them related to Fox, I usually don’t have a problem with overprotective man in books because I read a lot of dark romance, but his actions in a contemporary romance context were a bit problematic, like the stalking, the lying, him watching her with binoculars from his cave.
I liked how the author wrote about her chronic illness and his PTSD, and the book club was really funny. The little snippet from the next book caught my attention, so we will be giving it a try as well, even if Ethan was not my favorite character but I respect his actions in the end.
